When is Buying Organic Worth the Money?

When is Buying Organic Worth the Money?

Ten years ago, only "tree huggers" and "hippies' were insisting on eating organic food. Now we all know that there's a problem with a lot of the commercially grown or produced food we're eating. Many of the crops that are grown commercially are heavily treated with some really serious herbicides and pesticides and things like wheat, corn and soy are almost always grown from genetically modified seed, which can really mess with your immune system and your hormones. Commercial feedlot meats are dosed up with hormones and antibiotics that do the same thing.

The problem is that many people can't afford to go completely organic. Organics cost money to grow and supermarkets are charging an arm and a leg for them. It's not right for people to feel like they have no choice but to feed themselves and their kid's food that can hurt them, but there are things you can do to make more of your food supply healthy.
The first thing to do is to look somewhere other than your supermarket. Farmer's markets are usually way cheaper than the grocery store and sometimes you can even get organic fruits and vegetables for less than the commercial stuff at the store. You can also check out local CSA farms, where you can subscribe to a big box filled with all the things they're harvesting that week.
The other thing you can do is prioritize which foods are really worth buying organic and what you can either do without or buy in non-organic versions. Here's a list of the foods that can definitely be worth buying organic:
  1. Meats
Organic meats can get really expensive, but the feedlot stuff is really bad for you. Organic grass-fed or free range meats have no antibiotics or hormones added, the animals eat organic themselves and the meat is way higher in Omega-3 fats than commercial meat. To afford the organic, skip something else in your budget (like the fancy coffee or the manicure or going out every weekend) and use that money for organic meats.
  1. Milk
Commercial milk has all the same problems as commercial beef. The growth hormones alone are enough of a problem, especially if you're working hard to balance your testosterone and estrogen levels. Buying organic can definitely be worth it here.
  1. Eggs
Eggs have the same issues as meat and most bodybuilders trying to build muscle or lose fat eat a lot of eggs. They're an awesome protein source. Organic, vegetarian fed eggs are safe to eat and have more Omega-3 fats. Organic eggs can be added to the "it's worth it to buy organic list"
  1. Fruits and Vegetables
There are some fruits and veggies that are worth buying organic. Berries are heavily sprayed and because they're so porous, they absorb all of the pesticides and herbicides. Bananas are also one of the most chemically treated fruits and their skin is no protection because it's so soft. Most potato farmers will not eat potatoes because of all the chemicals they absorb. For the rest of the produce section, try to buy organic if you're going to eat the peel. A simple rule of thumb could be If you're going to peel it, you can get away with buying commercial.

Another good rule of thumb: buy organic if you eat a lot of it every week and buy commercial if it's something you only eat now and then.....This makes things even simpler.
These tips will help you to eat the healthiest diet possible while living a practical life!

To your results.

Abs Exercises to get a Six pack Abs

In this article you could learn how You can have your ideal Abs Exercise to get a Six pack Abs Fast with the right workouts on the GYM or even at home. You can see some unusual Abs Exercise but this give you best results than a normal ab workout exercises than another personal trainer had put in your workout rutine.

With a switch in your Abs Exercises instead of the typical ab routines that we see so often with crunches, situps, leg lifts, etc... You could have the options for metabolism-boosting high intensity workouts that work their entire body while also working their abs... thus not only build rock hard abs but also creating a much better fat-burning workout than a typical ab workout too.

One of the fast and easy "ab workouts" that doesn't include any direct "ab exercises" at all. This is actually a full body workout that works your abs pretty hard indirectly, and stimulates a good metabolism boost! It's in a tri-set format that includes:

1a. Renegade Dumbbell Rows
1b. Front Squats with Barbell
1c. Mountain Climbers on Floor

A good rep scheme to use with this could be 3-4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise, or more sets for less reps, such as 5 sets of 5 reps of each exercise. Mountain climbers can be done for a time interval instead of "reps", it's mean, you can have a better fat-burning workout with 30 secons with this workout exercises in particular.

Renegade Dumbbell Rows
In this Renegade dumbbell rows are done starting in a pushup position with the hands on 2 dumbbells. You then row one dumbbell up while stabilizing your body with the other arm. Bring the dumbbell back to the ground and alternate the rowing arm while stabilizing with the opposite arm. This stabilizing effect during the rows creates incredible work for your entire midsection core area. It's True... you'll feel it in the abs!

Front Squats with Barbell
This one are done similar to back squats, however with the barbell in front of your body on the front of your shoulders instead of resting on the upper back as in back squats. You stabilize the barbell on your shoulders by crossing your arms and pushing your fists into the bar against your shoulders while keeping your elbows out in front of the body.

This takes a little practice at first, so you will want to seek a professional trainer at your gym to help you with the form. Front squats require extreme stabilization strength from the abs due to the barbell weight being shifted to the front of the body instead of the back. Even though this is mostly a leg exercise, you'll feel this one in the abs too.

Mountain Climbers on Floor
By starting in a pushup position and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are moving in under your chest and then back out to starting position. It sort of resembles climbing a mountain but flat on the floor. If you want an advanced version, you can also shuffle your hands 8-10 inches forward and backward in addition to the leg movements. This really makes it a full body exercise and MUCH more difficult than standard mountain climbers.

After finishing each exercise, rest about 30 seconds before starting the next exercise. Rest about 1-2 minutes after completing each "tri-set" before repeating.

This will give you one of the best ab workouts you've ever had without even doing any direct ab exercises.... and with a LOT more fat-burning metabolic effect compared to standard ab exercises... You'll see results after do this in the short term goal.

What is this food additive and how it makes you gain weight?

What is this food additive that makes you 3x more likely to be overweight?

There are many chemicals and flavor enhancers in processed foods and those so-called "diet" foods that packaged as "diet" dinners, desserts, snacks, etc., and many of those are addictive. MSG is one good example. People who eat MonoSodium Glutamate (MSG), as a flavor enhancer in their food are more likely than others to be overweight or obese even though with the same amount of physical activity and caloric intake, according to a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health.

Researchers at UNC and in China studied more than 750 Chinese men and women, aged between 40 and 59, in three rural villages in north and south China. The majority of study participants prepared their meals at home without commercially processed foods. About 82 percent of the participants used MSG in their food. Those users were divided into three groups, based on the amount of MSG they used. The third group who used the most MSG was nearly three times more likely to be overweight than non-users.

Because MSG is used as a flavor enhancer in many processed foods, studying its potential effect on humans has been difficult. Study participants were chosen from rural Chinese villages because they used very little commercially processed food, but many regularly used MSG in food preparation.

The bottom line is that you should avoid MSG as much as possible since it can stimulate cravings and lead to weight gain, among other problems. The best way to avoid MSG is simply to avoid all processed foods. For some people, that may sound difficult, but it really becomes simple if the only foods that you buy at the grocery store are 1-ingredient foods – that means fresh whole unprocessed foods that are only 1-ingredient instead of processed into dozens of ingredients.

Among the most common processed ingredients are refined/enriched flour, colors, preservatives (which go by hundreds of different names), and chemical flavorings --which may legally be called "natural flavors" even if they include MSG. (As a side note: most varieties of processed or "textured" soy protein (TSP or TVP) use MSG for flavor and call it "natural flavors.")

Many nutrition experts believe that the more refined a food is, the less satisfying it is to the body. Because the body is unable to extract what it needs from denatured, highly processed junk foods, it craves more nourishment. Cravings are usually a signal your body is not getting the nutrients it needs, however, sugars and starches stimulate appetite and increase cravings for sugar — as do most artificial sweeteners.

Even the best food companies, whose apparent goal is to promote health and wellness, are still in business to make a profit. Corporations selling diet foods and low-cal foods are hardly motivated to make a product that really helps people consume less and lose weight. If they did, their captive audience--people who are overweight--would disappear, taking their money with them.

Weight loss products are highly suspect for their harmful and addictive artificial ingredients, and for the elusive promise of "quick, easy" weight loss they promise but almost never fulfill. The only certain way to lose weight permanently is to focus on healthy nutrition such as organic fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, grass-fed meats, free-range poultry and raw dairy products, an active lifestyle, reducing stress, and creating balance and harmony in our lives.

If you liked today's topic, this is just a sample of the dozens of nutrition topics that we talk about in our program --

Trans Fats Foods can Make You Lean

Learn how Trans Fats Foods can keep you Lean, what is the difference between trans fats foods natural and artificial, what are its effects and how you can use these tips.

We all know that trans fats in foods are horrible for your health right? But what if I told you that there is a specific type of trans fat that's natural (not man-made) and actually helps you to lose fat faster and build lean muscle?

Well, check out the excerpt from Mike Geary's very interesting nutrition program called "The Fat Burning Kitchen" ( http://www.truthaboutabs.com/fat-burning-kitchen.html ) below:

"...Not many people know this fact, but a natural fat found in ruminant animals called Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is actually a natural form of trans fat. However, CLA is FAR different than the artificial trans fats from hydrogenated oils that are so deadly and that you hear all of the negative information about. CLA is actually one of the only healthy trans fats in existence and has a different chemical structure than artificial trans fats.

CLA is a natural form of healthy trans fat that occurs in the fat on the meat, and in the dairy from ruminant animals such as cattle, bison, deer, goats, sheep, kangaroo, etc. CLA in natural form has been shown to help in burning off abdominal fat and also maintaining or even building lean muscle, as well as cancer prevention. Great stuff huh! Keep in mind that CLA diminishes in meat and dairy when the animals were fed grain.

Warning: Although the data in studies is conflicting, I generally do not recommend CLA supplements as they contain an artificially created form of CLA that is a different CLA isomer compared to the natural CLA isomer that's found in meats and dairy from ruminant animals. The CLA isomer found in CLA supplements is thought by some researchers to possibly have negative effects in the body and is more similar in chemical structure to an artificial trans fat. This is however, controversial and not a lot of studies have been done. But from a common sense standpoint, the natural form of CLA from grass-fed meats should be more beneficial to your health than the artificial form of CLA. The only form of CLA that I personally believe is going to benefit your health and help to reduce body fat is the natural CLA isomers from grass-fed beef, bison, venison, etc or from grass-fed raw milk or cheeses.

Also, grass-fed meats and dairy contain 3-5x the CLA content of grain fed meats, so avoid your typical grain-fed grocery store meats and choose grass-fed!

So that is the reason why I focused more on red meats such as grass-fed beef and bison during this 23-day cutting cycle instead of chicken, turkey, or fish -- because the extra CLA can really help in accelerating fat loss and preserving lean muscle..."

There you have it... there actually IS such a thing as a healthy trans fat... bet you didn't know that!

This was an excerpt from Mike Geary's super-popular nutrition program co-authored with an extremely knowledgeable nutrition expert named Catherine Ebeling.

The program is called "The Fat Burning Kitchen", and it's a must read if you want to know exactly what to eat to be lean and healthy for life, and which foods are sabotaging your efforts.

Because this is Mike's 36th birthday, he decided to have a big HALF price sale for 2 more days. The price will double in a few days at the end of the week.

Also, Mike really wanted to really knock your socks off with this program, so if you grab a copy this week, he even decided to throw in a special bonus section that gives you every single nitty gritty detail of how he went from 10.2% bodyfat down to 6.9% bodyfat in only 23 days while he prepped for a photo shoot.

This is advanced stuff for when you might have an event such as a wedding or a beach vacation coming up and you need to knock off some significant bodyfat in only 3-4 weeks time frame. There's nothing unhealthy here... but these techniques are definitely "amped up" from the norm.

When I say nitty gritty details... I'm talking everything, including specific spices, teas, nutrients, exactly what he ate, carb/protein/fat ratios and how he manipulated timing of nutrients to accelerate fat loss.

According to the body comp tests, Mike went from 10.2% BF to 6.9% BF in only 23 days.

You'll find out all of those details of how you can lose 3-4% BF or more in 23 days in the bonus chapter if you grab a copy this week.

Which is the Healthy Oil for Cooking?

Today, I wanted to give you my take on a confusing subject to most people:
...why some oils and fats you may use in cooking, baking, or other food use are actually harmful to your body, and why some are healthful.
A lot of people seem to think that anything labeled as "vegetable oil" is good for you. NOT A SHOT!

Most of what is labeled as "vegetable oil" is simply heavily refined soybean oil (processed under high heat, pressure, and industrial solvents, such as hexane)... sometimes perhaps it may also be heavily refined cottonseed, safflower, corn, grapeseed, or other oils too.
In most instances, almost all of these processed oils are NOT HEALTHY for you. I'll explain why below...
If you buy processed food or deep fried food, you can usually be certain that these unhealthy oils are used to prepare your foods (or worse, it may use hydrogenated versions of these oils... aka - trans fats).

You may have even bought some of these oils for your own cooking or baking at home.
The problem with soybean oil, cottonseed oil, corn oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, and other similar oils is that they are mostly composed of polyunsaturated fats (the most highly reactive type of fat) which leaves them prone to oxidation and free radical production when exposed to heat and light.
Processed polyunsaturated oils are the most inflammatory inside our bodies because of their high reactivity to heat and light. This inflammation is what causes many of our internal problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and other degenerative diseases.

Note: It's ok if a polyunsaturated fat source isn't processed such as in whole foods like various nuts and seeds... In that case it's usually not inflammatory (as long as it's not been exposed to high heat), and is a great source of healthy polyunsaturated fats for you. By the way, omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids are both polyunsaturates, and a healthy balance of approx 1:1 to 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is considered healthiest. Your best bet is to choose raw nuts and seeds whenever possible to avoid the oxidation of polyunsaturated fats that can occur during roasting of nuts and seeds. Keep in mind though that some nuts are mostly monounsaturated, (for example, macadamias), so the issue of roasted vs raw nuts is less of an issue for highly monounsaturated nuts.
However, all of the vegetable oils listed above are generally heavily refined during processing, so that makes them already inflammatory before you even cook with them (which does even more damage).
Here's the actual order of stability of a type of fat under heat and light (from least stable to most stable):
1. polyunsaturated
2. monounsaturated
3. saturated

Here's something that mainstream health professionals will never tell you...
Saturated fats are actually the healthiest oils to cook with!
Why? Because they are much more stable and less inflammatory than polyunsaturated oils.

This is why tropical oils such as palm and coconut oils (and even animal fats such as butter) are best for cooking... they have very little polyunsaturates and are mostly composed of natural saturated fats which are the least reactive to heat/light and therefore the least inflammatory in your body from cooking use.

That's also why natural butter (NOT margarine) is one of the best fats for cooking. This all goes directly against what you hear in mainstream health talk... because most health professionals don't truly understand the biochemistry of fats, and falsely believe that saturated fats are bad for you... when in fact, they are actually neutral in most instances... and saturated fats from tropical oils are actually good for you as they contain mostly medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) which are lacking in most people's diets.

In fact, lauric acid is one of the abundant MCTs in tropical oils and is known to strengthen the immune system. Lauric acid is even being studied currently in medical studies for controlling contagious diseases.
To summarize... your best cooking or baking fats are generally butter or tropical oils such as palm or coconut oil. Olive oil (extra virgin preferably) is ok for lower cooking temps as it's mostly monounsaturated, so moderately stable. The mostly polyunsaturated oils such as soybean, grapeseed, cottonseed, safflower, etc, are the least healthy for cooking or baking.
My choices for top healthy cooking oils that I use:
Virgin Coconut Oil
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (only for low temp cooking)
Real Butter (grass fed if possible)

Of course, with all of that said... we should keep in mind that trying minimize our cooking with oils can help to reduce overall calories. Cooking with oils in moderation is ok and can actually help satisfy your appetite more, but be careful not to overdo it as the calories can add up fast.
Also, please don't be fooled by deceptive marketing claiming that canola oil is healthy for you -- it's NOT!
